JOB SUMMARY: The Manager of Palliative Care functions as administrative leader, educator and clinician. Leadership involves coordination of services between interdisciplinary team members, program development and management. The Manager of Palliative Care has expertise in symptom management, communication and end of life care, as well as integrative medicine. Works with nurses, physicians and hospital staff to provide excellent care for patients and their loved ones who are facing complex medical issues; focus is on symptom management, communication, and advocating for patient’s and family goals in relation to health care. The Manager of Palliative Care supports holistic nursing and develops/maintains integrative medicine program utilizing massage therapy, aroma therapy, energy medicine, Healing Touch, music therapy, pet therapy and other integrative modalities to promote the wellness of body, mind and spirit for patients, loved ones, nurses, hospital staff, physicians and volunteers.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) obtained with five (5) years of hire date. Experience: One year of palliative care and/or end of life experience. Registered nurse with five years experience in acute care License / Certification: RN LicenseCurrent BLS for Healthcare ProviderCertified End of Life Nursing Education Consortium trainer within one year of accepting position.National certification in palliative care within two years of accepting position through NBCHPN (National Board for Certification of Hospice and Palliative Nurses).
