Community Health Systems Medical Assistant in Barstow, California
Assists the physician with patient care and any needed procedures.
Rooms patients, takes vitals and prepare patients for physician visits.
Maintains efficient office patient workflow from check-in to check-out.
Arranges orders of hospital admissions, laboratory and imaging services and all other ancillary services in a timely and efficient manner.
Records patient histories and other required patient information.
Keeps rooms clean between patients to include sanitizing exam table, counter tops, door handles, equipment, and other exposed surfaces via approved sterilization techniques.
Handles medication refills as directed by physician in accordance with policy and procedure.
Maintains patient records and ensures all records and reports are available for physician review at time of visit.
Keeps rooms stocked at all times with necessary supplies. Orders medical supplies and maintains appropriate inventory.
Performs EKGS and in-house CLIA waived tests and properly documents in patient charts
Ensure equipment is in good working order and maintain log book.
Maintains office logs to document refrigerator temperatures, etc.
Maintains sample closet to ensure current stock, accurate counts and expired samples are exposed of properly.
Obtains referrals and authorizations when needed.
Follows proper procedures for sterilization, infection control and standards precautions.
Maintains current MSDS log book and keeps current and accurate list of all hazardous chemicals.
Performs patient call backs in a timely manner.
Answers phones and takes appropriate messages. Creates patient cases with required information as needed including who, what, when, why and how.
Makes appointments and reschedules appointments when needed.
Monitors Athena buckets and performs tasks in timely manner.
Observes patient safety. Follows office P&P safety guidelines.
Supports and/or assists other Medical Assistants when needed
Triage, lab draws, and medication dispensing for all pediatric, adult, geriatric patients.
Operates fax, copier, and telephone systems.
Operates Athena and other software Systems.
Understands end of day cash balancing and charge reconciliation processes.
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
Experience: California MA certificate preferred. Graduation from accredited MA program or 2040 certifiable hours working directly under the supervision of a physician required.
Licenses/Certifications: Medical Assistant Proficiency/Graduate Certificate or equivalent “on the job training . CPR Certification required.
