JT3 Project Lead I in Palmdale, California

JOB SUMMARY - ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES - Using basic knowledge of project management fundamentals, the incumbent individually leads relatively small projects of low to medium complexity supporting Company and customer requirements. Additional functions and duties involve:

  • Assist Project and/or /Program Managers with the daily conduct of large project/program activities involving Project tasks including:

  • Make priority determinations

  • Develop, review, and approve project documentation
  • Maintain established project portfolio
  • Establish, execute and report on project budget
  • Manage project risk
  • Monitor/control and re-plan project
  • Provide project status through project/program reviews
  • Annotate lessons learned and archive project data
  • Administer Work Management System (WMS) activities through the use of identified scheduling tools

  • Follow company and Government processes and procedures as required maintaining accountability and responsibility for project schedule, budget, and requirements to deliver projects on time meeting required budget

  • Use established policies, procedures, and subject matter knowledge to complete assignments of medium complexity that vary in nature and sequence

Performs other related Project assignments as requested.

RANGE POSITION DESCRIPTION -- Job Specific Responsibilities:

Manage projects less than $100K and less than 1 year in duration. Assist in the management of larger projects. Responsible for setting and maintaining project schedules. Involved with acquisition process (especially adhering to government processes and cybersecurity guidelines). Communicate project status at various levels of technical detail. Interface with engineers to gather requirements, evaluate project progression and establish what is needed to accomplish the project. Equip project team with the tools required to accomplish the project. Enable government to accomplish the mission despite cumbersome processes.

Job Specific Additional Required Skills:

Excellent communication skills. Aptitude for research (particularly in areas without any current knowledge of subject matter). Ability to compile information using MS Outlook, MS Office, MS Power Point and MS Project.

REQUIREMENTS - EDUCATION, TECHNICAL AND WORK EXPERIENCE - Must have a Bachelor's or higher degree, or any combination of formal education, training and experience equivalent to six years involvement in technically demanding program or project assignments. Must have demonstrated knowledge and skills in resource organization and allocation, planning and budgeting, continuous quality and process improvement, configuration management, setting and measurement of program goals, as well as good verbal and written communication skills. Must maintain a Security Clearance. Must be a U.S. citizen. Must possess a valid State driver's license.
