This highly visible position is theShift Supervisor - Distribution, and will have overall responsibility for all facets of the distribution operation shipping, receiving, warehousing and housekeeping for assigned shifts. He/she will oversee staff and facility and be well versed in the total operation from processing, inventory control, safety and equipment. Included in these responsibilities is the ability to handle almost any situation that comes up in distribution center. Supervises the finished goods distribution operations, including case pick operations, bulk loading, and receiving.
What you’ll do:
Responsible at all times for promoting a safety culture and awareness throughout the plant and within their area. Support and adhere to all plant safety policies and procedures at all times.
Responsible for all job-related training for their work team.
Direct shift activities to meet scheduling and customer requirements.
Coordinate staffing levels, materials, methods and metrics (measurements) to ensure an effective operation.
Train employees in safety, quality, productivity and the overall business operations as required. Foster employee culture of learning organization.
Initiate all employee relations functions as necessary such as coaching, discipline, etc.
Accountable for accurate and timely recording of employee attendance and E-time.
Maintain a smooth distribution operation by ensuring adherence to all operational methods, procedures, and processes.
Maintain all housekeeping requirements.
Identify and champion opportunities for continuous improvement initiatives.
Incorporate principles of lean manufacturing such as 5S, key TPS elements, etc.
Promote fair and consistent adherence to all local and corporate policies and procedures.
Communicate methods, changes, scheduling, etc. as appropriate and required cross-functionally throughout the organization.
Foster and maintain good employee relations through all the appropriate methods of communications and positive employee relations practices.
Manage all related technical systems, technologies, machines, and equipment as required.
Participation in employee process from the hiring stage through termination.
May be required to support Distribution overtime outside of regularly assigned shift or on weekends as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.
What you’ll need:
3-5 years previous supervisory experience in a fast-paced manufacturing and/or distribution environment preferred.
May be required to support Production overtime outside of assigned shift or on weekends as needed.
Strong computer skills (SAP and MS Office Suite).
Basic knowledge of production operation, including equipment, materials, work flow, etc.
Familiarity with warehouse management systems and Enterprise Operating Systems such as SAP or Oracle strongly desired.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Excellent organizational/time management skills.
Ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels of the organization.
Ability to work for long periods of time, under pressure, to produce results.
Ability to prioritize work assignments in a fast-paced work environment, calm under pressure and flexibility to direct work force and adapt to changing schedules as appropriate.
Strong leadership abilities and skills as a team builder, coach, and mentor.
Strong computer skills (SAP, WMS and MS Office Suite).
Basic knowledge of distribution operation, including equipment, materials, work flow, etc.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to operate a computer in a Windows-based environment and ability to use most office equipment.
Proficient in Office Suite products and Enterprise level systems such as SAP.
